Make the comparison accurate, not just dramatic
Match the camera
- Photograph the same subject from the same distance and height.
- Use stable landmarks to align renovation or restoration photos.
- Keep lighting and white balance similar when color is important.
- Avoid changing pose or lens zoom in a way that exaggerates the result.
Choose crop or padding deliberately
Crop to fill creates an edge-to-edge video but may remove parts of a wide or tall image. Use Crop focus to protect the subject.
Fit with padding preserves the complete image. It is better for documents, artwork, screenshots, and comparisons where no detail should be removed.

Use the same source dimensions and a 2–3 second reveal. Keep labels short so they do not cover the edit.

How do I make a before and after video?
Upload the two photos, choose a preset and framing method, edit the labels, preview the reveal, and select Generate video. The file downloads when browser recording finishes.
Can I make a TikTok or Instagram Reel?
Yes. Select TikTok / Reels Full HD for a 1080 × 1920 vertical video. Keep labels and the main subject away from the top and bottom edges where platform controls may appear.
Why did part of my image disappear?
Crop to fill removes image edges when the photo and video have different aspect ratios. Change the crop focus or select Fit with padding to preserve the whole photo.
Will I receive MP4 or WebM?
The available format depends on your browser’s MediaRecorder support. The output summary identifies the format before you generate. MP4 is used when supported; otherwise the tool creates WebM.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Selected photos are read and processed locally by browser APIs. They are not submitted to BeforeAfter.online.
Why can video generation take longer than the duration?
The browser draws and records every frame in real time. Full HD and 60 FPS require more work than 720p and 24 or 30 FPS, especially on phones or older computers.
